It was with a touch of excitement that Rune Thomsen and Morten Jakobsen made the final preparations before welcoming participants to the new initiative, “Chicken and Coffee Table at LANDMECO”.

“When it is the first time we hold an event of this kind, it is always exciting to see whether the program we have planned is what the participants have come for,” says Rune Thomsen.

The program included, among other things, a tour of the showroom, where participants gained insight into what LANDMECO A/S offers in terms of equipment for broiler chickens and how it functions in the poultry house.

After the tour, Rune Thomsen gave the participants insight into trends in the poultry market, expectations for the future, and offered good advice on the choices that can help make a difference and add value in daily operations.

The professional presentation was followed by an exchange of experiences and questions around the table.

“The eagerness to ask questions was high, and the participants were genuinely interested in learning more about how we at LANDMECO view the future of the poultry industry. It was particularly positive that among the participants there were both farmers who currently work with pigs and former mink farmers who are showing increasing interest in the poultry industry,” says Morten Jakobsen.

They did not come in vain

There were eight participants, and for Rune Thomsen that number is very appropriate.

“Eight may not sound like many, but it gives both Morten and me the opportunity to really have a good conversation and go more in depth on the topics they would like answers to. Some of the participants are planning to start with chickens, and when they choose to spend time visiting us, it should be such that when they drive home, they have received the advice they need,” says Rune Thomsen.

Oliver Vammer, who works with crop production and pigs, and Jacob Wildenschild, who works with pigs, had made the trip from Southern Jutland to Ølgod to learn more about what the poultry industry is all about, and they agreed that they had not driven in vain.

“I was curious to learn more about the economics of building a chicken house and the industry in general. And I got answers to all my questions, so it was by no means a waste of time,” says Jacob Wildenschild, while Oliver Vammer says:

“The economy in agriculture goes up and down, also when it comes to pigs, which is what I work with. Therefore, it was exciting to gain insight into the poultry industry, which I knew absolutely nothing about beforehand. I do now.”

Morten Jakobsen and Rune Thomsen are very satisfied with the participants’ feedback.

“That was exactly what we hoped they would get out of it, and I think it proves that the concept works well,” says Rune Thomsen.

Morten Jakobsen and Rune Thomsen look forward to welcoming participants to the next “Chicken and Coffee Table at LANDMECO” on January 7 and February 4. You can read more about the event here.
